“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”
– Audrey Hepburn
A couple of months ago, I was so shattered on the inside that I didn’t really like looking in the mirror. Naturally, I thought that if I cut my hair, lost some weight and bought new clothes, I would feel better.
However, after I started this journey – discovering my passions, forgiving myself for the mistakes I’ve made and actively focusing on the positives – I truly started to see my own beauty (inside and out).
I used to spend a lot of time being overly critical of myself but now I catch myself before it turns into an endless stream of negative thoughts. One of lessons I’ve learned is that positive thinking really is powerful. It takes practice to get rid of old habits but the more I consciously focus on shifting my mindset, the easier it becomes.
So, if you find yourself weighed down by societal pressures to look or act a certain way or are being critical of your inner/outer selves, take a moment to shift your thinking. Don’t let yourself finish the negative thought. Take a moment to breathe and focus on the positive qualities you possess.
Be true to yourself and the people who matter will see you as the beautiful person you are. ❤️
