“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
– Wayne Dyer
I took another jazz funk dance class today and this time we danced to Dua Lipa’s New Rules. The song is about moving on from an ex and the “new rules” are things you should do to stay away from that person so you can move on. It’s about creating distance between you and someone who clearly isn’t right for you.
Our dance instructor choreographed an awesome routine that starts off with a woman who feels unloved and vulnerable. As the song progresses, she becomes more confident and empowered to follow her new rules and get over someone who’s bad for her. I felt as if the universe was trying to tell me something today. This song choice and dance routine reflect exactly what I’ve been doing these last few months. It’s as if the universe was telling me that I’m on the right track and to keep going.
I really feel like the universe is conspiring to help me move on from my ex. Or, perhaps I just feel that way because I’m currently reading The Alchemist. It talks a lot about the universe conspiring to help you follow your heart and tells you to pay attention to the omens (signs). All signs are pointing me in that direction – to move on and leave the past behind me, right where it belongs!
