“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”
– Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
I just started reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Over the years, a lot of people have recommended it to me but I never got around to reading it. The story is about a shepherd boy who is in search of some hidden treasure and the obstacles he must overcome to find it. Even though he sets out to find material treasures, his journey leads him to find the treasures.
As I find myself on my own journey of self-discovery, this seems to be the most opportune time for me to read this book. There are a lot of differing opinions online with some people raving about this book and others who absolutely hate it. There also seems to be a lot of debate around the author’s message and whether it’s actually harmful or helpful. I’m still in the early chapters so I’m trying to avoid reading any of the many threads on this so I can form my own opinions on what it means to me. I will write a review once I’ve completed it and maybe any of you that have also read it can share your thoughts too!
